Vanessa Morgan was born in Ottawa, Ontario in 1992. If she’s instantly recognisable then you’ve most likely seen her in of three major TV roles.
My Babysitter Is a Vampire
Morgan played the lead in the kid’s show. It followed teenage boy forced to have a babysitter get involved with the once hidden vampire threat at school and deal with all manner of supernatural hijinks. Two seasons was not enough and the show ended up being cancelled before its time and leaving a bit of a cliffhanger. This was the first show I saw her on.
Finding Carter
MTV’s Finding Carter follows a teenager (Kathryn Prescott) as she finds out that she was abducted as a toddler and is returned to her biological family. It was one of a slate of interesting scripted shows that actually might have lasted longer at a more teen scripted friendly channel.
Unfortunately I never saw the show myself therefore I can’t comment much about Morgan’s role here beyond her episode count.
Riverdale
For good or bad the Archie Comics TV adaption is one of the most popular shows on TV. Vanessa joined the show in season two playing Toni Topaz. A girl from the wrong side of the tracks who almost immediately comes into conflict with Riverdale’s own blueblood Cheryl Blossom.
Morgan made headlines when she spoke about her own treatment on Riverdale. She highlighted the treatment of actors of colour on the show. She revealed that she was paid the least of the regular cast and asked the producers to do better. You can learn more about this through the links below:
