After a frustratingly long wait for an answer Hallmark Media have announced that Mystery 101 has been cancelled.
The fan favourite mystery series starring Jill Wagner, Kristoffer Polaha and Robin Thomas won’t be returning. Fans of Mystery 101 know that this means the time jump cliffhanger will not get a resolution. This will be particularly upsetting for fans as such a clliffhanger is an extremely rare move for a Hallmark Mystery. Those shows do have a loose continuity but the time jump was ambitious. The final Mystery 101 ended with Amy and Travis in love but 11 months later that Amy has a new (now dead) fiancé.
The news came during a marathon of the series on Hallmark Mysteries & Movies. News of which was posted to its official Facebook page. Fans flocked to the post to ask when the show would return and one fan got an answer. Unforunately not one they wanted:
“We loved making ‘Mystery 101’ and we’re so glad you enjoyed sleuthing along with us. We want to let you know that our talented sleuths have solved the last mystery and are off the case. In the coming weeks and months there are exciting new mysteries on the way that we know you’ll love!”
Evidence or Speculation
Hallmark do not give reasons for their cancellations but this is not the first time we have looked at this. The Media network has wanted to reboot their mysteries offering and have launched a number of new mysteries in the last two years while confirming the cancellation of several existing series. So perhaps this was inevitable despite the sizeable fanbase.
It is also worth noting that while Wagner hasn’t appeared for the network for two years while also doing projects over on GAC the network’s rival currently headed by Bill Abbott the former CEO at Crown Media. There has been no exclusive contract deal revealed as Wagner also has an action show on the horizon on another network but perhaps Mystery 101 just got squeezed out.
How are you doing Sleuthers? While I’m a big fan of the majority of recent Hallmark Mysteries this one was special, great chemistry between the leads and fun exciting storylines. It will definitely be missed. Let us know what you think in the comments.

One of Hallmark dumbness move. The chemistry was great between the leads, and you could watch the show with your children. They could of found a way, even if just to do the last episode that has already been written. They new mysteries have are not appealing. They have lost a fan, Hallmark, that is.
Don’t understand why they wouldn’t film the last episode so as not to leave th3 devoted followers hanging. This will make me think twice before investing time into another Hallmark series.
This was one of the best Hallmark’s Mystery Series…The Chemistry between Travis and Amy, the storlyine was fabulous!!! Wrong Move Hallmark !!!
I really really liked it, and for some recent I especially liked the opening theme song. Did you happen to check out Chronicle Mysteries? I think that might be over too though no official word on that.
