John Wesley Shipp (The Flash) is set wear the lightning bolt one more time as he suits up as Jay Garrick/The Flash on Stargirl.
Shipp originally played the Flash in the 90s TV adaption. He went on to play a number of different roles on CW’s The Flash over the years. First appearing as Henry Allen, Barry’s wrongly incarcerated father and then going on to play a version of Barry Allen from another earth and Jay Garrick. He went on to make appearances in two of the network’s crossover events.
Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (played by Brec Bassinger) who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. The series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America. This new young team is at the centre of a fun, exciting and unpredictable series.
Shipp will appear in episode 2.09 which will feature a flashback showing the original Justice Society of America. This also serves as the confirmation of the link between Stargirl’s Earth 2 and the shows of the Arrowverse.
The CW confirmed this, stating that the episode and casting “officially bring Stargirl into CW’s post-Crisis CWverse. Joining The Flash, Superman & Lois, Batwoman, Black Lightning, Supergirl, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.”
Stargirl is available via the CW and CW App in the US and on Amazon Prime in the UK.
