It is now official the next Star Trek spinoff series has a title, Starfleet Academy and a production start date.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will introduce us to a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they will discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.
Timeline
The announcement came around a year ago that Starfleet Academy was going forward but what we lacked then was details. Thankfully the recent announcement has confirmed some speculations. Most importantly the timeline of when the show will be happening. The show will be set in the 32nd century, that is where Discovery ended up and a different timeline to Strange New Worlds.
Pinewood Toronto Studios.
The show is definitely receiving full support with a purpose made two storey space with a mess hall, amphitheatre, trees, catwalks, multiple classrooms and a view of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. This space will soon be under construction at Pinewood Toronto’s soundstage.
Filming is set to start in Summer with an end date not currently known. Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau will serve as showrunners on the project. Are you looking forward to a new Star Trek show?
