THE HUNTING PARTY Season 2 The Hunt Continues At NBC

NBC have confirmed The Hunting Party Season 2 as part of the two final renewals announced this week.

The procedural follows Melissa Roxburgh (Manifest) as Rebecca “Bex” Henderson, an ex-FBI agent leading a small team of investigators on the hunt for inmates who escaped from a top-secret prison (aka The Pit) after a mysterious explosion.

Cast

The cast also includes Nick Wechsler (Revenge) as Oliver Odell, Bex’s former partner and The Pit’s onetime warden. Josh Mackenzie (La Brea) as Shane Florence, a former soldier and Pit prison guard. Sara Garcia (The Flash) as Jennifer Morales, an intel officer and major in the Army; and Patrick Sabongui (The Flash) as CIA agent Ryan Hassani.

NBC Cancellations

The show managed to survive the NBC bloodbath of renewals and cancellations. Things were made more cutthroat by the NBC’s acquisition of NBA coverage, which means that 7 hours of their evening weekly schedules are now spoken for.

The Hunting Party films from 20 June 2024 through to 18 November 2024. Filming takes place in Vancouver, BC.

The other freshman show returning will be Brilliant Minds starring Zachary Quinto. The show is a loose adaption of the life of Dr. Oliver Wolf. He is a gifted neurologist with an unconventional approach to treating psychological issues.

Jeff Bader, President, Program Planning Strategy, NBCUniversal Entertainment said about how the decisions were made for which shows to take forward:

“We actually looked at all these shows. We looked at what their performance was week-to-week, episode to episode, on both linear and digital, to just try and glean which ones we thought had the best ratings story. And then on the creative side, the creative teams did the same thing. Which ones have the best potential to capture a new audience? And these were the two shows that made their way to the top.”
