The Hunting Party has been cancelled by NBC after two seasons, with the show being offered to others.

When the worlds most dangerous criminals escape from a top secret prison known as The Pit, former FBI agent Bex Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh) is tasked with hunting them down to protect civilians… as well as the secret of the Pit itself.
NBC took some extra time to make the decision on the thriller. It is the last of the 2025/26 shows that got a decision. According to the report from Deadline the show was always looking like a longshot for Season 3. Season 2 ratings were disappointing but there was some hope in the boost that the show received when it went to Netflix. Netflix have been suggested as a potential new home for the show. It was the show’s international success as well as its Netflix success that apparently made NBC hesitate until now.
A Very Tight Schedule
Jeff Bader, NBCUniversal’s President of Program Planning Strategy had this to say:
“We’re looking for places where we can grow the network, and that is a time period where we think we can do better. Nothing negative about Hunting Party, but for our linear schedule, we absolutely need to try and do a little bit better there.”
“Honestly, we have a very, very tight schedule. Because we have a lot of sports, for our entertainment time periods, we had to actually give up on some shows that we really love to make room to launch our future potential hits. So we made room for four, we could have done with less, very hard for us to do more.”
Those four news shows are The Rockford Files, Line of Fire, Sunset P.I. and Newlyweds.
