Meet The Bobbsey Twins – NANCY DREW Season 2

When Nancy Drew returns for season two there will be two new faces – The Bobbsey Twins.

Praneet Akilla and Aadila Dosani have been cast as the Bobbsey Twins, Amanda and Gil. Bobbsey Twins (or Bobbsey kids) were the leads in novels from the same publisher as Nancy Drew.

The new characters coming to Nancy Drew are very different than the ones from the books. Here is the character breakdown for Amanda. She is described as charming, but possesses a manic energy and street smarts as a result of growing up poor and on the wrong side of the tracks. Gil helps her sister out with petty crimes and the two have a co-dependency putting the other above everything else.

Akilla who is from Calgary shared what he knew about the characters with the Calgary Herald:

“I wasn’t as familiar with them as I was Nancy Drew, but I certainly read a book or two here or there. I would play Nancy Drew video games on the old Windows 98 PCs and they would factor into some of the games as well. So I was over the moon.”

“They get involved with Nancy and the crew to solve a major mystery. There’s sort of a mystery within a mystery and the audience gets to find out how they are interconnected as the season progresses. Amanda and Gil Bobbsey have their own inner turmoil. They are very dark characters that have a sordid past and have to come to terms with it.”

Aadila Dosani

Dosani also from Calgary will be joining Akilla and will be playing Amanda Bobbsey. She began her career in Calgary with roles in features such as 2013’s The Right Kind of Wrong,  2014’s Double Booked and 2016’s Empyrean before relocating to Toronto and later Vancouver. She has also had roles in series such as ABC’s A Million Little Things and the CBC miniseries Unspeakable.
