Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) has joined the cast of Sci-fi Film Hello Stranger.
He joins a cast that includes Jordana Brewster (Fast and Furious franchise), Luke Grimes (Yellowstone), Robbie Amell (The Flash) and Alicia Sanz (The Devil Below). The film is shooting in Toronto currently, directed by April Mullen.
Hello Stranger follows Faye a young widowed woman still grieving her loss. She decides to find comfort using an android simulant (SIM), a perfect artificial copy of husband Evan. Faye finds she does not love this new Evan in the same way and pushes him away. The new Evan struggles to win her back while being chased by a government agent who thinks conscious SIMs like Evan are potentially dangerous.
Ryan Christopher Churchill writes the script with Tom Doiron and James van der Woerd producing through Wango Films. Kirk D’Amico us executive producing through Myriad Pictures, who is also handling international sales.
Liu starred in hit Canadian sitcom Kim’s Convenience which ended in 2021. He has recently joined the live action Barbie movie which stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. He sprung to worldwide fame after starring in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Shang Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings.
