Jodie Sweetin Reveals New Hallmark Mystery Movie

Jodie Sweetin revealed the news of her new Hallmark mystery movie to her fans via her Social Media.

At the beginning of March Sweetin held a live event on her Social Media allowing her to directly talk to her fans. This came after a period of comparable radio silence from the former child star, with the reason soon becoming clear.

“I was very quiet in February. I was in Toronto working, I was doing a new Hallmark movie which is gonna come out this spring. It’s a mystery movie, so something a little bit different. There is no Christmas in this one. It’s a Hallmark mystery movie. The Jane De Silva mystery is going to be coming this spring. So I’ll keep you guys all posted on that.”

New Mysteries

Hallmark Media’s new leadership team — including CEO Wonya Lucas and Programming Vice President Lisa Hamilton Daly — have been working on updating and revitalizing Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

Lisa Hamilton Daly had this to say:

“We are leaning back more into the mysteries, which people really liked. We’re trying to bring back the fan favorites but also freshen them up because — I loved ‘Only Murders in the Building’ so we are trying to see how we can feel more modern with our mysteries.”

“I think with our mysteries, it can be a little bit of a dusty attic kind of show but we’re saying, ‘Okay, how do we do something — which still has to be G-rated, PG maybe, especially if it’s murder — but how do we do what works for our audience but is also fresh?’ And that’s what we’re trying and I think that there’s going to be some fun surprises with that, too.”

If you’ve been following Hollywood North News for some time you’d be aware that we love Hallmark Mysteries. A number of long running mysteries as well as some relatively new offerings have been officially cancelled in the past two years. This lead to concerns among the Hallmark mystery fandom that there would be few mystery titles going forward.

Since then a number of new projects have emerged. Alison Sweeney and Cameron Mathison just reunited to film a new Hannah Swensen mystery. Though there is no news on her newer Chronicle Mysteries returning for more instalments. Lacey Chabert and Will Kemp are set to star in new project the Dancing Detective.

Those are just some of the recent Hallmark Mystery news, are you looking forward to any of these new upcoming projects.
