
Freeform have released the final trailer for season 2 anthology series Cruel Summer.

Cruel Summer season 1 was a big hit with fans almost immediately turned to asking when the show would return. The first season followed the mystery of Kate Wallis’ (Olivia Holt) kidnapping by her vice principal, Martin (Blake Lee). After Kate’s rescue, she accused fellow high schooler Jeanette Turner (Chiara Aurelia) of seeing her and deciding not to help her. The series shows the fallout of the kidnapping on both girls across three timeline 1993, 1994 and 1995.
News of the renewal came relatively quickly then things went quiet. It was eventually revealed or clarified? That the show was an anthology series meaning that fans wouldn’t find out what happened with Kate, Jeanette and their friends.
Set in the Pacific Northwest, Cruel Summer follows the rise and fall of an intense teenage friendship. Approaching the story from three different timelines surrounding Y2K. The season twists and turns as it tracks the early friendship between Megan, Isabella and Megan’s best friend Luke. It follows the love triangle that blossomed, and the mystery that would impact all of their lives going forward.
Cruel Summer season 2 premieres on 5 June 2023 on Freeform. Catch it the next day on Hulu.
