Cruel Intentions a TV adaption of the cult teen thriller has begun filming in Toronto and announced its cast.
The original starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Philippe, Reese Witherspoon and Selma Blair. The film came out in 1999 when those stars where at the height of their popularity. The film, the musical it inspired and now this series are all based on the French novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses published first in 1782.
Two ruthless step siblings will do anything to stay on top of the Greek life hierarchy at an elite Washington, D.C. college. After a brutal hazing incident threatens the entire Panhellenic system. They’ll do whatever’s necessary to preserve their power and reputations. They’ll even try to seduce the daughter of the Vice President of the United States.
Cast Announcement
Sarah Catherine Hook is Caroline Merteuil, the queen of everything – or at least the queen of Delta Phi. You might recognise her from the Netflix supernatural teen drama First Kill which was unfortunately cancelled after one season.
Zac Burgess is Lucien, Caroline’s stepbrother.
Cruel Intentions also stars Myra Molloy, Sarah Silva, John Harlan Kim, Khobe Clarke, Sean Patrick Thomas, Myra Molloy, Brooke and Lena Johnson
Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios are producing the project.
The show is in Toronto over the following filming dates: June 05 2023 – September 08 2023.
