Robert Carlyle (OUAT) will portray Sherlock Holmes in Watson Season 2.

John Watson (Morris Chestnut) witnessed his friend and partner Sherlock Holmes seemingly fall to his death during a face-off with the villain James Moriarty (Randall Park) at Reichenbach Falls. After Holmes’s presumed death, Watson resumed his medical career in Pittsburgh as the head of the Holmes Clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders.
The one holdover from his life of solving mysteries with Holmes is Shinwell Johnson. He is a former criminal who helped on cases back in London. Johnson helped nurse the doctor back to health after nearly dying at Reichenbach Falls.
Unfortunately Watson’s past caught up with him. Moriarty is alive and has been closely observing Watson and his work. The end of the season saw Shinwell and Dr. Derian both betraying Watson. Both come clean and help Watson deal with Moriarty but it is unclear if the two will start as part of the team next season.
Sherlock Holmes (Robert Carlyle) resurfaces in season 2, forcing Watson to confront a buried secret from his past — one that lies hidden within his own body.
