We have the official trailer for thriller Wayward starring Mae Martin and Toni Collette.

In the picture-perfect town of Tall Pines, sinister secrets lurk behind every closed door. Not long after police officer Alex Dempsey (Mae Martin) and his pregnant wife Laura (Sarah Gadon) move into their new home, he connects with two students Abbie (Sydney Topliffe) and Leila (Alyvia Alyn Lind) from the local school for “troubled teens” who are desperate to escape and could be the key to unearthing everything rotten in the town.
As Alex begins investigating a series of unusual incidents, he suspects that Evelyn (Toni Collette), the school’s mysterious leader, might be at the center of all the problems. Created by Mae Martin, Wayward is a thrilling and genre-bending limited series about the eternal struggle between one generation and the next, what happens when friendship and loyalty are put to the ultimate test, and how buried truths always find a way of coming to the surface.

This is what Mae had to say to Tudum:
“We are deep in the bizarre world of Wayward, and I am so excited to show everyone what we’ve been making — what a cast! I hope this show ignites the rebellious teenagers that exist in all of us. And, most importantly, let’s acknowledge that my hair is now several shades darker than previously, indicating that I am now in fact a serious actor.”
Creative Team
Ryan Scott is co-showrunner and executive producer, alongside Martin. “I wanted to explore why one generation always ends up hating the next,” Scott told Tudum. “We were all teenagers once (or still are) and then we slowly transformed into adults who forget. Wayward is about this metamorphosis. About those of us that fight it and try to hold on to our teenage selves, and those that surrender to adulthood.”
Filming ran from 2 July 2024 until 16 October 2024 in the Toronto area. Sphere Media and Objective Fiction are producers on the limited series.
The limited series will premiere on 25 Sept. 2025.
