Transparent Film, in association with the Knowledge Network, will present the world premiere of documentary feature Emergence: Women In The Storm.

The documentary comes from award-winning directors Nova Ami and Velcrow Ripper (Metamorphosis, Incandescence). The premiere takes place at the Victoria Film Festival on February 11th, 2026 at the Roxy Theatre.
Climate Emergency
This unforgettable film follows female frontline responders, community leaders and disaster survivors. These groups demonstrate new ways to live and support one another in a time of climate disaster. Facing heat domes, wildfire, and flooding in British Columbia and the Northwest Territories. The film will also play to audiences theatrically at the VIFF Centre in Vancouver on February 25th, 2026.
Amidst an undeniable climate emergency, women are on the frontlines. As first responders and change makers, they provide hope in the face of crisis. Zeroing on recent catastrophes in British Columbia and the Northwest Territories, this survival guide and a call to collective imagination is seen through the eyes of those who’ve been impacted by the wildfires, extreme heat and floods surrounding them. Their perspectives reflect a survival instinct triggered by harrowing encounters with nature’s power.

EMERGENCE: WOMEN IN THE STORM is written and directed by Nova Ami (Metamorphosis) and Velcrow Ripper (ScaredSacred). Nova Ami produces with Patrice Ramsay (The Society Page) serving as executive producer. Sarah Hedar (Lay Down Your Heart) is the editor.
Mary Ancheta (Nosocomephelia) is the film composer, with Velcrow Ripper overseeing cinematography and sound design. Poetry is by Meghan Fandrich from “Burning Sage: Poems from the Lytton Fire” Caitlin Press 2023.
The documentary filmed in Yarrow, Lytton, Boston Bar /Spuzzum, Chilliwack, Abbottsford, Princeton, Osoyoos, Vancouver, New Westminster in British Columbia, and in Yellowknife, North West Territories.
