GUARDING STARS Starring Jared Padalecki Wraps Filming

Jared Padalecki (Supernatural) has wrapped filming on his romantic comedy Guarding Stars in Calgary.

Guarding Stars follows a movie star (Jared Padalecki) who is assigned a bodyguard (Leighton Meester) as he is being stalked. However, when the actor returns to his family’s home for the holidays, he has the bodyguard pretend to be his girlfriend so his family doesn’t worry.

The film is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Katherine Center.

Netflix have been stepping things up on the romance side in recent times. Films like Hot Frosty and My Oxford Year show their attempts to build on the success of their long running romance Virgin River.

The film stars Jared Padalecki, Leighton Meester, Andie MacDowell, Walker Hayes, Noah LaLonde and Toby Sandeman.

The filming took place in two phases:

• Phase one filming began 4 December 2025 and ran until 20 December 2025.
• Phase two filming went from 17 February 2026 through to 10 March 2026.

Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum directs the film. Grant Scherzo, Richard Keith and Erin Cardillo are writers on the project.
