The newest adaptation of Robocop from Prime Video will begin filming next year in Vancouver.

The original Robocop film premiered in 1987 and starred Peter Weller with Paul Verhoeven directing.

Corporate interests resurrect a murdered police officer as a cybernetic enforcer to privatize security in a decaying Detroit. He executes lethal justice while flickering memories of his former life trigger a hunt for his killers.

The new series will see Dan Stevens playing the titular character.

The film proved to be successful and lead to two sequels released in 1990 and 1993. There was a TV show adaptation of the franchise that ran for one season 1994. More recently there was a new film adaption, released in 2014 and starring Joel Kinnaman. That version also filmed in Vancouver and Toronto.

Filming on the new Robocop series will commence on 16 February 2027 and end on 16 August 2027.
