Poison Ivy is on her way back to Gotham, is it to deal with a pretender to her crown?
Thanks to new cast member Bridget Regan who plays Poison Ivy we have our first look at the villain. Regan who starred in cult book to TV adaption Legend of the Seeker and appeared in Marvel’s Agent Carter shared an image from an upcoming episode on her social media.
In it Poison Ivy/Pamela Isley emerges from a lake, with a caption added “Pam needs some sun” along with the date of Batwoman’s midseason return, 12 January.
We previously learned about the origin of during the first half of season three. Isley was a student at Gotham University student studying botany and girlfriend to Renee Montoya. Then she was kidnapped and experimented on by a fellow student which resulted in her ability to control plants.
The experiment also changed Isley’s personality which lead to her break up with Montoya and her becoming a villain. She fought with Batman until she was defeated by being buried underground well away from sunlight.
Poison Mary
Fans of Batwoman have seen how Poison Ivy’s vine has affected Mary (Nicole Kang). Her new personality is far more forthright and aggressive. Mary lost trust in her team after Ryan ignored the attack on her and Luke turned on her after she diagnosed his PTSD. In the final episode of the first half of the season Mary destroys the cure and embraces her darker side. We even see her get her own costume.
Poison Mary has now decided to return to Gotham with her target being Marquis Jet. What plans she has for him are unknown though we’ll have to wait. How will Poison Ivy feel about Poison Mary and vice versa, will they join forces or clash?
The CW’s Batwoman returns to The CW in the US and Showcase in Canada on Jan. 12, 2022.
