Katherine McNamara might be returning to the CW network.
The actress played Mia Smoak, the daughter of Felicity Smoak and Oliver Queen. After a number of guest appearances across the Arrowverse and the failed Green Arrow & the Canaries Pilot McNamara is back. This time she will be the lead on the Walker spinoff Walker: Independence.
Walker starring Jared Padalecki, is a reboot of the classic Chuck Norris action series. The show was renewed for season two. Walker: Independence occurs in the late 1800s. The show follows Abby Walker (McNamara), an affluent Bostonian whose husband is killed in front of her eyes during their journey out West.
New Pilot
On her quest for revenge, Abby crosses paths with Hoyt Rawlins, a lovable rogue in search of purpose. Abby and Hoyt’s journey takes them to Independence, Texas, where they encounter eclectic residents running from their own troubled pasts and chasing their dreams.
The show also stars Matt Barr (Blood & Treasure), Justin Johnson Cortez, Greg Hovanessian, Lawrence Kao and Philemon Chambers. Larry Teng (NCIS Hawai’i) will direct the Pilot with Jared Padalecki executive producing.
At the moment the show is only in the Pilot stage so we will have to kep watching to see if the network decides to order episodes. The rising star power of McNamara plus the popularity of Walker and Padalecki points to a decent chance of getting greenlit. However the looming shadow of the sale of the CW network introduces some doubt.
A Rising Star
McNamara appears in action thriller Agent Game which stars Mel Gibson and Jason Isaacs set for release next month. The film also stars fellow Arrowverse alum Katie Cassidy. She starred in Freeform hit Shadowhunters one of her most popular roles. The show is based on the international best selling YA book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.
