Candace Cameron Bure (Aurora Teagarden Mysteries) has signed a deal with GAC Media.
Regarded as one of the Big Three of Hallmark Bure’s departure is sure to make waves. The announcement came this week and is much more than a simple movie deal. Bure will develop, produce and star in projects for GAC Family and GAC Living. In addition she will be taking an executive role. In this new role she will oversee and curate programming. That’s not all as her production company Candy Rock Entertainment will develop and produce original content for GAC as well.
The Candace Cameron Bure Effect
Bill Abbott, President and CEO of GAC Media had this to say:
“Candace is adored by generations of fans as one of family entertainment’s most cherished and relatable stars. She has helped build this genre into the mainstream success it is today, and I look forward to working together at GAC Media as we further establish our brands as leaders in quality family programming. I am truly honored that she has chosen to be a part of and help curate her special brand of family entertainment here at Great American Channels.”
Candace Cameron Bure herself also released a statement which went into some detail about her decision to sign with GAC:
“I’m very excited to develop heartwarming family and faith-filled programming and make the kind of stories my family and I love to watch. I am constantly looking for ways that I can inspire people to live life with purpose. GAC fits my brand perfectly; we share a vision of creating compelling wholesome content for an audience who wants to watch programming for and with the whole family. Great, quality entertainment with a positive message is what my partnership with GAC is all about!”
Bure already has a significant presence on GAC with the network having acquired Full House and Fuller House. She has made over 25 movies with Hallmark including the extremely popular Aurora Teagarden Mysteries. The series is based on the book series by Charlaine Harris. It seems the latest of the long running Hallmark Signature Mysteries Haunted By Murder will be its last instalment.
Indeed it seems likely given the scope of Bure’s and statements from Hallmark that her time there is at an end.
GAC
GAC Media is run by Bill Abbott, former CEO of Hallmark Channel’s parent company Crown Media Family Networks. Abbott left his long time Crown Media post in January 2020 following Hallmark’s decision to stop airing a commercial featuring a same-sex wedding — a decision the network quickly reversed following social media backlash.
What do you think about GAC’s newest signing? Will you be following Bure to the new network?
