
The CW has taken the decision to cancel Kung Fu after three seasons.

Kung Fu was very loosely based on the classic series of the same name. In this updated version we follow Nicky Shen, a young Chinese-American woman returns to her family after an absence spent in a isolated monastery in China. She finds her family changed and her hometown overrun with corruption and crime. Using her martial arts skills and Shaolin values to protect her community. As she mends fences with her family she also searches for the assassin who her killed her master.
Showrunner Christina M Kim released the following statement:
It has been the honor of my f-cking life to work with this group of humans. we made a historic three seasons of a show. first predominantly Asian cast in a one hour network drama. first Asian American female showrunner. i don’t have enough words (or room in this carousel) to express my gratitude to my show-runners, my writers, my cast, my stunt team, my f-cking crew… i love you all.

Kung Fu stars Olivia Liang, Tzi Ma, Kheng Hua Tan, Shannon Dang, Jon Prasida, Eddie Liu, Gavin Stenhouse, Yvonne Chapman, Vanessa Kai, Tony Chung and J.B. Tadena. Christina Kim and Robert Berens serve as co-showrunners.
It filmed all three seasons in Vancouver.
