When Calls The Heart has begun production on Season 11 and now the SAG AFTRA actors it employs can return.
Currently members of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists are on strike. This came after negotiations to renew their contract with Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers stalled. You can read the official announcement here.
The show was filming without their US based stars. Those actors would film later once the ongoing SAG AFTRA strike had been resolved. With the waiver those actors can head to Canada and start filming as normal.
Co-creator Brian Bird announced the news to fans via his social media.
“Season 11 of When Calls the Heart is approved by SAG to continue production in the same week as Season 10 Premieres! We are very grateful to all the folks at SAG/AFTRA for saying YES! to filming Season 11!”
When Calls the Heart tells the story of Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a young teacher accustomed to her high-society life. She receives her first classroom assignment in Coal Valley, a small coal-mining town in Western Canada which is located just south of Robb, Alberta. There, life is simple, but often fraught with challenges.
Season 10 of When Calls the Heart premieres on Sunday, 30 July at 9/8c.
