Dolly Lewis and Agam Darshi star in CTV/CW new procedural series Sight Unseen.
Sight Unseen centers on Tess Avery (Dolly Lewis), a homicide detective who loses her job after nearly killing her partner and being declared clinically blind. She uses an assistance app and connects with Sunny Patel (Agam Darshi), a professional seeing-eye guide who’s also an agoraphobe and lives 3,000 miles away. Using a hidden camera and earpiece, Sunny remotely steers Tess through life’s obstacles — and crimes.
The idea for the project comes from one of the co-creators’ experiences with sight loss, viewers join Tess and Sunny as they bring a fresh perspective to solving crime.
The show has signed a SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement so was therefore able to continue production throughout the strike. Shooting on the project runs from July 31 2023 until November 15 2023 and took place in Vancouver. It will consist of 10 episodes and premiere sometime in 2024.
Lewis and Darshi are joined by The Originals alumni Daniel Gillies. Gillies plays Matt Okator, a close friend of Tess who uses his tech skills to help. The series also stars Alice Christina-Corrigan (Doctors), and Tony Giroux (Motherland Fort Salem).
To provide an authentic representation of the sight-impaired community, the production teams for Sight Unseen committed to incorporate equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as a priority both in front of and behind the camera through the guidance of sight-impaired consultants.
Executive Producer John Fawcett directed a number of episodes alongside co-showrunners Karen Troubetzkoy and Nikolijne Troubetzkoy. Karen and Nikolijne are also the creators of the show.
Blink49 Studios controls the distribution rights in Canada with Fifth Season handling U.S. International distribution (outside of North America).
