The upcoming new CBC series Wild Cards has released an Official Season One Trailer.
Wild Cards follows Ellis, a demoted detective, has unfortunately spent the last year on Vancouver’s marine unit (i.e., he’s now a “water cop”), while Toni has been living a transient life elaborately scamming everyone she meets.
But when Toni gets arrested and ends up helping Ellis solve a local crime, the two are offered the opportunity to redeem themselves, with Ellis going back to detective and Toni staying out of jail. The catch? They have to work together, with each using their unique skills to solve crimes.
For Ellis, that means hard-boiled shoe leather police work; for Toni, it means accents, schemes, and generally befriending everyone in sight (while driving Ellis absolutely nuts).
Check out the trailer below:
The show stars Vanessa Morgan (Riverdale) as Toni and Giacomo Gianniotti as Ellis.
Recently announced is the casting of Jason Priestley. The Beverly Hills 90210 star is also well known for starring in Private Eyes another light hearted crime show about a private eye who comes to work with an ex professional hockey player. Priestley will play Toni’s father.
Wild Cards the light hearted crime procedural will premiere on 4th December 2023. The show is one of several acquisitions by the CW in the US and will air there later this year.
