Mike Flanagan is in Vancouver prepping ahead of the start of filming for a new adaption of Carrie.

Carrie is a reimagining of the story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White, who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother. After her father’s sudden death, Carrie finds herself contending with the challenges of attending high school, a bullying scandal and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.
This is not the first adaption of the Stephen King story with the Sissy Spacek starring 1976 adaption being seared into pop culture history.
No casting has been announced so far for the series though Flanagan is currently looking for the lead.
Flanagan is an American filmmaker with a varied film and TV catalogue. He has had creator and showrunner credits on:
- The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
- The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
- Midnight Mass (2021),
- The Midnight Club (2022)
- The Fall of the House of Usher (2023)
The filmmaker has since signed a first look deal with Amazon Studios. This isn’t the first Stephen King adaption that Mike Flanagan has tackled. His first was the film Gerald’s Game (2017). Next was Doctor Sleep starring Ewan McGregor released in 2019. The latest project tackling Stephen King material was The Life of Chuck starring Tom Hiddleston released in 2024.
Filming will take place from 16 June 2025 to 17 October 2025 in Vancouver. Intrepid Pictures, Red Room Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios are producing.
