
CBC has handed new seasons to two of its most long running scripted dramas Heartland and Murdoch Mysteries.

The public broadcaster has recently renewed 5 of its show included these two. With more renewals set for announcement later this spring.
Heartland (10×60 in Season 19) is a multi-generational family drama and one of the CBC longest running shows. The series takes place against the glorious backdrop of the foothills of Alberta. The show is popular with fans of all ages in Canada and around the world. The long running series is an adaption of the bestselling series of books by Lauren Brooke.
The series follows Amy Fleming (Amber Marshall) and her family as they deal with the challenges of running the Heartland Ranch that has been with them for generations. Star Michelle Morgan is a Canadian Screen Award nominee in the category of Best Lead Performer. Dynamo Films and SEVEN24 Films produce the long running series.
Available in more than 120 countries and territories around the world, Murdoch Mysteries (21×60 in Season 19) is set in Toronto in the early 1900s during the age of invention. Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) enlists innovative forensic techniques to solve some of the city’s most perplexing murders.
The much-loved series won 10 Canadian Screen Award nominations. This includes a Best Lead Performer nomination for Hélène Joy and Best Supporting Performer nods for Jonny Harris, Daniel Maslany and Clare McConnell. Shaftesbury produces in association with ITV Studios and UKTV. Shaftesbury Sales Company and ITV Studios handle distribution.
