Actor James McAvoy took the Live stage at MCM Comic Con Birmingham to talk about his life and career in front of a packed out fan.

James McAvoy
The Scottish actor and director has a career in film and TV spanning over thirty years. He made his film acting debut in Glasgow Noir film The New Room (1995). His major TV roles include Shameless, State of Play and Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune (2003).
McAvoy is also an multi-award nominated theatre actor, gaining nominations for West End productions including as Three Days of Rain in 2010, Macbeth in 2013, The Ruling Class in 2015, and Cyrano de Bergerac in 2020, for which he received four nominations for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor.
Fans will likely recognize him from such film roles as Mr. Tumnus in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), The Horde from The Unbreakable series and Professor Charles Xavier from the X-Men First Class movies.

Questions From The Fans
Kofi Smiles handled the questions early on before giving the gathered fans a chance to ask their own later. One of the first things we learned was that the actor set financial stability as one of his goals in his acting career. He spoke about wanting to be able to live through his earnings as an actor and that being an early drive for him.
McAvoy describes Atonement as dear to his heart and that he loved the book when asked to talk about some of his favourite roles.
