APTN’s Spring Programming 2026

Two years after receiving CRTC approval to launch APTN Languages, APTN is reaffirming its commitment to revitalizing and preserving Indigenous languages by delivering an exceptional Spring programming lineup.

This season features an expanded slate of original Indigenous-language content and dynamic youth-focused programming. An investment in the next generation and the future of Indigenous storytelling. From culture and traditional cuisine to hilarious virtual journeys around the world and stories that highlight the resilience of Indigenous youth, this programming offers a unique mix of entertainment and meaningfulness.

FRESH ADDITIONS 

Rabbit Soup — Comedy
Davey Gott and his mom, Melva, chat in Cree and embark on a series of hilarious adventures around the world, all without leaving their couch!

Grandma Sherry’s Kitchen — Lifestyle/Culture
TikTok star Grandma Sherry shares her recipes with the next generation and reconnects with her Dakota language.

Guerriers de demain — Youth/Documentary Series
Young Indigenous army recruits celebrate the inner strength they have acquired through physical challenges, cultural trials, discipline and solidarity at the Carcajou military training program.

Rezervations for Two — Reality
Iconic besties Kai and Scott send lovable singles on blind dates, serving up laughs and a little dating advice along the way.  

• APTN premiere: June 15 (English)

Additional spring programming highlights include One Dish, One Spoon (Season 2) in English, Animal Nation in French and Mohawk, Hoop Nations in Cree and Spirit Talker (Season 5) in Mi’kmaq. All programs will be available for same-day streaming on APTN+, and Indigenous-language content will also be offered for free on the APTN YouTube channel. 

NATIONAL CANADIAN FILM DAY 

To mark National Canadian Film Day on April 15, APTN will showcase exceptional Canadian filmmaking with the broadcast of Beans. A powerful feature film that highlights the courage of a young Mohawk girl during the 1990 Oka Crisis.  

NATIONAL INDIGENOUS HISTORY MONTH 

Throughout June, in recognition of National Indigenous History Month, APTN will feature Friday night films that celebrate Indigenous storytelling:  

• Meadowlarks — June 5 (premiere)
  • Starring Michael Greyeyes, Michelle Thrush, Carmen Moore and Alex Rice, Meadowlarks tells the story of four Cree siblings who were separated as infants during the Sixties Scoop and are meeting for the first time as adults. 
• The Stand — June 12  
• James Bay 1975: The Shock of Two Nations — June 19 (English premiere)
  • Nominated for a 2026 Canadian Screen Award  
• Slash/Back — June 26 

For National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, APTN will also present programming that elevates Indigenous musical artistry, showcases outstanding accomplishments and honours the individuals whose stories continue to inspire.
