Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Director Jeff Fowler announced that filming is complete on the project.
The director made the announcement via his social media with a photo from the shoot. Sonic The Hedgehog 3 saw the production moved from Vancouver to Pinewood Studios in the UK. The previous two instalments of the video game adaption filmed in BC.
Sonic is one of the most instantly recognisable video game characters of all time. The sales of his games number more than 1.5 billion units.
The film stars James Marsden (Jury Duty), Jim Carrey, Tika Sumpter (Mixed-ish) and Lee Majdoub. Together with the voice talents of Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessy as Tails and Idris Elba as Knuckles.
In Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Sonic and Knuckles initially found themselves on opposite sides before eventually coming together to oppose Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik to keep Green Hills safe once more. There is not much known about the plot in Sonic 3 but we know Knuckles will be back.
Filming of the video game adaption like many productions was affected by the SAG-AFTRA strike. Shooting restarted on 29 November 2023 and continued through to March 28 2024.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 comes to theatres December 20, 2024.
