Motherland Fort Salem and Warrior Nun fans made their way to Heathrow’s Renaissance hotel by plane, trains and automobiles for Witchbomb II. The second Motherland Fort Salem/Warrior Nun Starfury fan event.
Witchbomb II is one of the many show fandom events organised by Starfury. Last year was my first time attending and it was a revelation. Fan conventions are certainly on the rise but Starfury has an excellent reputation for both guests and the atmosphere.
Come Together
What made an impression though is the fandom. Today as fans came in check in to the hotel and register for the con they could also sign a fan designed Wedding Wishes card for one of the guests set to attend the event. Also at the table was a birthday card for the creator of Motherland Fort Salem Eliot Laurence.
The show means a great deal to the fans and so do the cast. The amount of planning and work that went into this is awe inspiring. And the things that fans do are not just for the cast and creators but for fellow fans too.
In the run up to Witchbomb fans could buy a t-shirt with a one off design for the event. In addition to that attendees could collect goody bags made up by other fans. Shoutouts to @Psycho4Mfs who do so much to support the Motherland Fort Salem fandom. Just take a look to see all the fun stuff they organise.
Fans Welcome
The convention provided a space for first time attendees to learn about what to expect and to make some new friends. Also there is a useful Facebook group that lists the schedule as well as updating things at the beginning of each day. Beyond that the Starfury Events X page offers updates that are even more up to date.
Things started for me with registration and picking up the badge along with two complimentary posters one of each of the shows represented Motherland: Fort Salem and Warrior Nun and my autograph voucher.
For those new to things there were two classes of ticket available Regular and Gold. As you might suspect regular gives you access to most parts of the event with Gold giving access to a special Meet & Greet with the guests
Opening Ceremony
After that was the opening ceremony all the guests from Motherland Fort Salem and Warrior Nun came to the stage to greet the fans. Each guest came out to say hello to the packed out Main room to cheers and applause. All the guests except Lorena and Jessica have experience with how passionate we are about this special chance to see our favourite stars up close but you could see the genuine joy and gratitude they had for coming here.
After the guests had their say the only thing left was the disco which was a nightly event over all three days, it was a bit too much for me though as I was tired from travelling in so let’s catch up again for Day 2.
One of my fave events of the year. I had a blast the first WB and another amazing time this year. The staff are always so kind and accommodating, and the guests are always so lovely. I can’t wait to attend next August as well.
