This weekend Shogun ruled at the Emmys with a record of 18 wins from 25 nominations.
The FX drama filmed extensively in British Columbia as they brought the classic novel to life. The Top Emmy awards brought home were Best Drama Series, Best Actor for Hiroyuki Sanada’s powerful performance as Lord Toranaga, Best Actress for Anna Sawai’s Toda Mariko and Best Director for Frederick E.O. Tye’s helming of Crimson Sky.
The previous weekend the show won 14 Emmys at the Creative Arts Ceremony. FX CEO John Landgraf had this to say about Shogun shortly after production was completed.
We wrapped physical production on the limited series Shōgun in June [2022), which was by far our biggest and most ambitious production ever. We still have a long process of post-production ahead of us but the show looks fantastic.
