
Upcoming thriller Karoshi has announced new cast members ahead of filming this summer in Vancouver.

A corporate action thriller, with a samurai twist. The story is set in a Japanese-influenced New York City and features a revenge twist. In Japanese, “karoshi” refers to an unexplained sudden death related to overwork.

Teo Yoo (The Recruit) was initially announced as the lead though we have no further details at this time. Isabel May known for 1883 and Cynthia Erivo will also star.
Yoo had his breakout role in A24 romance Past Lives and more recently appeared in the second season of Netflix action comedy The Recruit. He also appeared in Palme d’Or-nominated Russian film Leto, Park Chan-Wook’s acclaimed mystery Decision to Leave.
Erivo broke through to pop culture starring in hit musical Wicked alongside Ariana Grande, the two set to return for Wicked: for Good. Erivo is now filming Gina Prince-Bythewood’s film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood and Bone. She portrays Admiral Kaea, alongside a stacked cast of Thus Mbedu, Amandla Stenberg, Viola Davis, Idris Elba and more.
Isabel May’s first major role was as Veronica Duncan on The Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon. May also starred in Neflix original Alexa & Katie which ran for four seasons.
Takashi Doscher will write and direct the project. Doscher wrote and directed Only, an indie sci-fi pic starring Freida Pinto and Leslie Odom Jr. That project premiered last year at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Karoshi will be filming from 11 June 2025 through to 07 August 2025. 87Eleven Entertainment‘s Chad Stahelski, Alex Young, and Jason Spitz will produce as one of the first projects through their first-look production deal with Lionsgate.
