Toronto-filmed thriller Self Driver comes out next month.

Facing the mounting expenses and unrelenting pressure of modern living, a down-on-his-luck cab driver is lured on to a mysterious new app that promises fast, easy money. As his first night on the job unfolds, he is pulled ever deeper into the dark underbelly of society. Embarking on a journey that will test his moral code and shake his understanding of what it means to have freewill.
The question becomes not how much money he can make, but what he will do to make it.
If you’ve got nothing to lose, how far would you go?

Self Driver had its world premiere at the Fantaspoa International Genre Film Festival in Porto Alegre, Brazil. There, it took home the Best Film Award in the “Low Budgets, Great Films” competition!
Check out the trailer below.
The film shot in just 14 nights on the streets of Toronto with a pair of Sony ZV1 cameras. Self Driver stars Nathanael Chadwick, Catt Filippov, Laura Welchner and Reese Presley. The production also used non actors in certain roles.
Michael Pierro writes and directs with Kire Paputts producing the project. Pierro had this to say:
Self Driver was a guerrilla production start to finish. Filmed on the late-night streets of Toronto, our goal
was to capture the uneasy energy of a big city at night as authentically as possible. With all the sights,
sounds, and smells that come with it.
Using both professional and non-actors, and real (often stolen) locations, we built our movie on top of
the living city, integrating as much of the real world into the texture of our film as we could.
Mongrel Media will release in Canada next month.
