
Josh Hartnett and Mackenzie Davis are currently in Newfoundland filming an upcoming Netflix thriller.

The project follows a hard-bitten fisherman (Josh Hartnett), who must fight to protect his family, his community, and his vanishing way of life when a mysterious sea creature terrorizes a remote Newfoundland town.
Hartnett recently lead two films with cinematic releases. He stars in psychological thriller Trap written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. In Trap Hartnett plays a doting father taking his daughter to see her favourite pop star in concert, which turns out to be an elaborate trap just for him.
Hartnett also stars in Fight or Flight where a former CIA asset is given a chance to come in from the cold by capturing a terrorist on a plane. Unfortunately for him, he is not the only person after this terrorist and is forced to fight for his life at 50,000 feet.
Mackenzie Davis recently appeared in Speak No Evil alongside James Mcavoy and Scoot McNairy. The psychological thriller is a remake of the Danish film of the same name from 2022.
Filming will be taking place on the coast this summer. The project is currently untitled but we do have some information around the general plot.
Jesse McKeown will be the showrunner on the project. McKeown previously wrote on shows including The Umbrella Academy, The Sinner and The Romeo Section. Jesse McKeown is a Canadian born writer, producer and showrunner.
The untitled thriller will film in St. John’s, Newfoundland from 3 July 2025 through to 12 October 2025. Josh Hartnett, Pacesetter UK and Netflix are producers on the project. It will consist of six episodes.
