Netflix romcom The Bodyguard will film this winter with stars Jared Padalecki (Walker) and Leighton Meester.

The Bodyguard follows a movie star (Jared Padalecki) who is assigned a bodyguard (Leighton Meester) as he is being stalked. However, when the actor returns to his family’s home for the holidays, he has the bodyguard pretend to be his girlfriend so his family doesn’t worry.

The film is an adaptation of the novel by Katherine Center. The author has written 12 books over the course of her career so far, two of those became Netflix films. The Lost Husband came out in 2020 and starred Leslie Bibb and Josh Duhamel. That film went to Number One in August of 2020 and made the top 25 Netflix films for that year.
In 2021 Netflix adapted Happiness For Beginners with Ellie Kemper and Luke Grimes. It hit Netflix’s global Top 10 in 81 countries.
Filming on the project will take place in Calgary and Vancouver. The schedule runs from 03 December 2025 through to 23 January 2026. Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum is the director on the project. The writers are Grant Scherzo, Richard Keith and Erin Cardillo. Genevieve Padalecki, Little Engine and Netflix are producers on the film.
