The series will have its highly anticipated international broadcast debut on June 10, 2026 on OUTtv around the globe. Internationally it will be available in the U.S, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Taiwan, Mexico, Argentina, and South Africa. The Dressing Room will also be available on OUTflix in the UK and Ireland.
The Dressing Room
The Dressing Room is a workplace comedy that follows a fictional touring musical called ‘Balloon Boy.’ We watch as the cast & crew try to keep the show alive every night with backstage meltdowns, romantic entanglements, and Broadway-sized ambitions. The series offers a hilarious and heartfelt look at the people who dedicate their lives to the stage.
The series draws inspiration from real experiences within Canada’s theatre community. It serves as a love letter to the performers, stage managers, musicians, technicians and creatives who keep the show going. The series stars Irene Karas Loeper (Spotlight on Christmas), Jason Sakaki (The Vince Staples Show), Jeffrey Michael Follis (Starwalker), and Alex Gullason (Schmigadoon!).
A Funny Character Driven Series
Paul Almeida co-creator had this to say:
“We wanted to create a funny, character-driven series that offered a window into the hilarious and heartfelt world behind the curtain. More than anything, The Dressing Room became a love letter to our theatre community and the artists we’ve been fortunate to work alongside throughout our careers.”
Makayla Moore added this:
The world can feel pretty overwhelming these days, and we wanted The Dressing Room to be a fun place for audiences to land. It’s a dramatic, silly, glitter-covered world sometimes held together with crazy glue, but that’s part of the magic.”
The Dressing Room was created and executive produced by Paul Almeida and Makayla Moore. The show is directed by multiple directors, including:
- Jennifer Copping (The Masks We Wear)
- Kaylee Harwood (Luckiest Girl Alive)
- Katrina Reynolds (The Dating App Chronicles)
- Josh Epstein (Antidiva: The Carole Pope Confessions).
Paul Almeida, Josh Epstein, Eric Gow (Malcolm in the Middle), Dan MacDonald and Shannon Hanbury wrote the series. Aaron Schmidt provides cinematography.
Filmed entirely in Vancouver, BC, The Dressing Room was made possible with the support of the theatre community including the Arts Club Theatre Company, Theatre Under the Stars, and Royal City Musical Theatre.
