Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is a Canadian star on the rise and our HNN Spotlight this month.
Ramakrishnan can currently be seen starring on Netflix comedy Never Have I Ever as Devi Vishwakumar. The show follows Devi a 15-year-old Indian-American Tamil Hindu girl from Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles. After a traumatic year, Devi wants to improve her status at school, but friends, family, and feelings don’t make it easy on her. This is the actress’ debut role.
She was born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario. Maitreyi was born to Eelam Tamil parents who immigrated to Canada as refugees from Sri Lanka due to the civil war. She considers herself to be a Tamil Canadian rather than Sri Lankan.
Voice Acting
Maitreyi also voiced Priya Mangal, a South Asian mellow, deadpan girl who is one of the protagonist’s friends, in the Pixar animated fantasy comedy film Turning Red. She also voiced Zipp Storm throughout the fifth incarnation of the My Little Pony franchise. The first project, the 2D animated short-form web series, My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale, premiered on YouTube in early April.[34] She also voiced the character for the CGI-animated Netflix series, My Little Pony: Make Your Mark, which premiered in September, and was preceded by a special of the same name in May.

Ramakrishnan made her debut with the show which will end with its fourth season on Netflix. Her next major role has already been announced. she will appear in The Netherfield Girls a modern film adaption of Pride and Prejudice.
