Hollywood North News was lucky enough to attend the Saturday session of London Anime & Gaming Con.

When we are not bringing you the latest in Canadian TV and Film news, we try to attend some fan-centered events here in the UK, where our headquarters are located. As such, we made a trip to Hammersmith to celebrate anime, video games, and community.
After briefly going the wrong direction after coming out of the underground, I managed to track down the venue Novotel London West. The convention took up a number of floors and the place was packed by the time I made my way in.
I only had part of a full day’s schedule to see what was to offer so I went to the Main Stage. The stage itself included some stalls and a bar to the side and behind the stage. The first event I saw was the Cosplay Lip Sync.
Cosplay Lip Sync
Who doesn’t love a cosplay lip sync battle? From song choice to choreography to outfit, I feel like there is something for everyone. At least everyone likely to attend an event like this. Here are some clips and photos from the event.

Shao Dow
Shao Dow is a rapper known for rapping about anime and building a dedicated following in the community. I could tell that from the crowd who rushed to the front.

Cassidy!
I have been to a few Western idol performances but this is the first time I saw one making her debut. If you want to learn more about Cassidy! check out her TikTok here. Overall, I think things went well but there were some teething problems. Though as the aspiring idol herself said the debut is a base to measure improvement.
Check out a clip of her performance here.

Cosplay Masquerade
It takes a lot to take the stage in front of the crowds but that didn’t stop dozens of cosplayers taking to the stage for the Cosplay Masquerade. The host mentioned that there would be a championship event next time when the con returns in August.

Unfortunately, I had to set off for the long journey back to HNN Towers at this point so was unable to stay for the Karaoke or the party that was scheduled for later. Overall it felt like a fun event which just made me want to have more time to look at the other stages.
