PAST LIVES Screening – Christie Pits Park
On Sun, July 27, at Christie Pits Park, Reel Asian is co-presenting Toronto Outdoor Picture Show’s free screening of Past Lives.
Canadian filmmaker Celine Song’s first feature film, Past Lives, follows the story of Nora, a Korean woman reunited with her childhood sweetheart Hae Sung after decades apart, and delicately portrays the lingering feelings and missed opportunities that transcend time, distance, and language.
Alongside Past Lives, the outdoor screening will also feature two shorts exploring past memories and family stories, Distant Cousins by Winnifred Jong and Don’t Forget the Water by Christina Hajjar.
At the screening venue, we’ll be at the pre-show with a table with drop-in postcard writing at 6PM. Come pen a letter to a loved one or scribble a postcard to someone you want to reconnect with. If you were looking for a sign, this is it! Reach out like Hae Sung did.
