Western The Abandons with Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson leading to warring families has a release date.

Kurt Sutter the man behind Sons of Anarchy created the show and serves as showrunner. The Abandons comes to Netflix on 4 December 2025.
Set in Washington Territory in 1854, the series follows the matriarchs of two very different families: one a found family of orphans and outcasts bound by love and necessity and the other one of wealth and privilege bound by blood. The families find their fates linked by two crimes, an awful secret, a star-crossed love, and a piece of land with silver underneath. The collision echoes the American struggle of the haves and have-nots, in a place just beyond the reach of justice.
Let’s take a closer look at the members of the two families and the people around them.
Lena Headey as Fiona Nolan, a strong-willed and devout Irish woman who, unable to have her own children, takes in four orphans to form her own family and will stop at nothing to protect them.

The Found Family – Diana Silvers as Dahlia Teller, Lamar Johnson as Albert Mason, Natalia del Riego as Lilla Belle, and Nick Robinson as Elias Teller.
Gillian Anderson as Constance Van Ness, the equally strong-willed matriarch of the wealthy Van Ness family. She will stop at nothing to protect and grow the mining fortune she inherited from her husband and then doubled. She aims to consolidate the Van Ness clan’s power in the ruthless, unforgiving frontier.
Aisling Franciosi as Trisha Van Ness and Lucas Till as Garret Van Ness.
The series filmed in Alberta including Calgary. Shooting ran from 14 May 2024 through to 17 October 2024.
