BEACH READ Starring Phoebe Dynevor & Patrick Schwarzenegger To Film In Toronto

Beach Read, the adaptation of the best selling book by Emily Henry, starring Phoebe Dyenevor and Patrick Schwarzenegger will be filming in Toronto later this year.

Beach Read is a romantic comedy following January Andrews, (Phoebe Dynevor), a successful romance novelist who struggles with grief and writer’s block after her father’s death and the discovery of secrets he’s long kept hidden.

While spending the summer in his Michigan beach house to prepare it for sale, she unexpectedly reconnects with Gus Everett (Patrick Schwarzenegger) an author who was once her rival in college. Both creatively stuck, they agree to a writing challenge over the summer, swapping literary genres while promising that there will be no romance between them. Of course, you know what they say about the best-laid plans.

Yulin Kuang is the director and had this to say about the central casting when she spoke with Deadline:

“We saw a lot of men for this role. I have always maintained that we are not casting a character, but a relationship. Once we knew Phoebe would be our January, my efforts became more focused and specific — not on who would play the best Gus according to the text, but who would play the best Gus opposite our specific January”

Dyenevor is a British actress recognisable from hit period romance series Bridgerton. More recently she starred in Netflix horror Thrash. Schwarzenegger appeared in hit anthology series White Lotus and starred in season one in Gen V.

Filming on the project takes place in Toronto and willl run from 1 June 2026 through to 24 July 2026.
