MCM Comic Con London 2022 Is Here

MCM Comic Con London dubbed the “the ultimate celebration of pop culture” is returning to London Excel today.

Running from Friday 27^th – 29^th May the event will see thousands through the doors at Excel Centre London. Once there they will enjoy the panels, special guests, independent creators and much more. Times and schedules are available on the website and through the MCM App to help visitors plan their days effectively.

Hollywood North News will provide coverage all weekend so make sure to follow via our social media channels.

A number of guests will be appearing over the weekend  let’s highlight some of them.

Guests

David Ajala known for playing Cleveland Booker on Star Trek: Discovery and guest starring on Supergirl as Manchester Black will be attendance and will take part in Panels over Saturday and Sunday.

Robert Sheehan, one of the stars of the The Umbrella Academy which returns for season three on Netflix next month will be Saturday and Sunday as well as appearing in Panels.

Ross Marquand known for his roles in The Walking Dead  and Avengers: Infinity War will be in attendance for all three days.

Janet Varney the voice of Korra and Dante Basco  the voice of Prince Zuko are in attendance. The two will be doing a live podcast recording.

Let’s break down the different parts of MCM

The MCM Fringe Stage offers a mix of incredible live music, comedy and performing arts all in the great outdoors. Be transported back to the 19th Century with Old Time Sailors singing the very best Sea Shanty’s fit for the seafaring life. If that wasn’t enough, talented MCM fans can showcase the star within by wowing the crowd in MCM’s very own Talent Show.

Pop Asia

For K-pop fans, anime enthusiasts and manga masters, delve into the Pop Asia section. A world where you can become an Origami pro with paper-folding magic by London Origami Society, try your hand at the unsung art of Manga drawing, learn to dance like BTS, join Ms Kayono for a traditional dance lesson, learn how to wear a traditional Yukata, or discover the ancient sport of sumo wrestling with an appearance and live demonstration from the current British Sumo Champion!

Side Quest Gaming Zone

Get your gaming fix and then become the best at the Side Quest zone. Whether your vice is modern consoles, retro gaming or tabletop favourites. Visitores can enjoy a casual escape from reality with a free playing session or unleash your competitive side and battle it out in tournaments. For role-playing fans, OutsideXbox and DM Johnny Chiodini will return with another unforgettable live Oxventure D&D adventure. And for the budding artists among us, explore Artist Alley to find independent talented creators, get some tips and bring home some new favourite comics and artwork.

Cosplay Central

Live out your ultimate alter-ego fantasy at Cosplay Central, where the limits of outfit creation knows no bounds.  The best of the best can show off their skills at the Cosplay Central Crown Championships. Cosplayers of all experiences are welcome to enter the Cosplay Masquerade. For those of us still learning, there’ll be unbeatable panels offering the best tips and techniques for kick-ass costumes and the unique Cosplay Hospital to fix any unplanned outfit mishaps. Best of all, MCM Comic Con is full of like-minded fans who are just like you. So why not make new friends who share your passion at official MCM photo meets.

As well as these creative areas those with full wallets will have dozens of independent stalls offering everything from clothing, jewelry, toys, models and books so you can take some of that Comic Con feeling home with you to enjoy again and again.

Finally what is MCM without the community? Whether it be the cosplayers who amaze us a new each year or meeting likeminded people queueing for the same panel as you or asking someone about a T-shirt of where they got some merch from. MCM Comic Con is about bringing people together. Just remember to ask cosplayers before taking photographs and never to initiate physical contact without their expressed consent. Everyone should feel safe at this or any other event.
